2023

Granted by Birds New Zealand (the Ornithological Society of New Zealand) to members who have made a significant contribution to both the Ornithological Society of New Zealand and to New Zealand ornithology.

Received by Biz for her work on tākoketai/black petrels over 30 years and work with the Society as Records Appraisal Committee Secretary since 2013.

2022

The Peter Nelson Memorial Trophy is awarded annually by the NZ Biosecurity Institute to individuals or organisations, for achievement in Vertebrate Pest Management within New Zealand. The trophy is a carved kōkako standing on a limb above the skulls of small predatory mammals – a rat, a possum and a stoat. The trophy was designed and made by Mr Ray Weaver.

Awarded to WMIL for their work on invasive species in Aotearoa New Zealand and around the globe.

2019

Presented by Stuff and Westpac NZ, the Women of Influence programme shares the remarkable stories of women who are making a difference to the lives of New Zealanders. Each year, they shine a light on the amazing work Kiwi women are doing, from a grassroots level to the global stage, and help propel our future leaders and rising stars to bigger and better things.

Received by Biz for her work in eradication and island restoration across the globe.

2019

As part of the Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Awards Ngā Tohu Pou Kōhure o Aotearoa, the Local Hero Medal celebrates people who have made a positive difference in their corner of Aotearoa. They demonstrate selflessness and determination in their efforts to make a difference to their community – be it their local (geographical) community, or community of specific interest. Whether their impact is in a particular field, or courageously overcoming personal adversity, their contributions are truly inspiring to inspire every New Zealander.

Received by Biz for her work on conservation, ornithology and predator control especially working with community groups in Marlborough.

2017

The Hauraki Gulf Forum-initiated award, the Holdaway Award recognises the legacy of Jim Holdaway, who championed the creation of the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park, within a farming, civic and military career characterised by courage, service and leadership. The Holdaway Award recognises leadership in and around the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park.

Received by Biz for her long-term work with tākoketai/black petrel on Aotea and inclusive way she shared her research.
